"Neptune" is the name of the excavator invented by Kral, the innermost secret of its creator, the invisible springboard on which he has established himself as a person. And the same "Neptune" will become the source of new misadventures of the hero of the picture.
The detective storyline begins with an attempt by a former friend of the inventor, Stando Weber, who emigrated in 1948 (recall that it was the year of the victory of the People's Power in Czechoslovakia) to West Germany and is now engaged, apparently, in economic espionage, to convince Kral to flee abroad, seizing all his drawings and developments.

...Iostova, who showed a keen interest in the affairs of a man she liked, naturally failed at the first attempt to break down the barrier of alienation and disbelief, behind which Kral felt so lonely. And it is unknown how further events would have unfolded if the unforeseen had not happened. A double murder took place in Kral's country house the next day; the owner of the cottage will be arrested on suspicion of complicity...
All the further action of the film, except for the adventure episodes related to the search for the murderer, consistently reveals the main author's idea, theses in the title of the work.
